Formalities

1: Make an appointment by phone or email me.

2: During our first meeting, I will assist you in completing The Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM). Under the Marriage Act 1961, a couple intending to get married in Australia must complete a NOIM with your Marriage Celebrant no less than one calendar month and no more than 18 months prior to the marriage being solemnized. I can also advise you on how you may have this time shortened.

3: In completing the NOIM, an original birth certificate or an Authorised extract of such certificate must be produced if you were born in Australia. If you were born outside of Australia, an overseas passport in lieu of the birth certificate is acceptable. If the person who is born overseas can not produce either a birth certificate or an overseas passport the Celebrant will be able to fill in a Statutory Declaration with details of their full name, date of birth, place of birth, parents names together with an explanation as to why the birth certificate is not available.

4: If one of the couple were previously married than an original copy of your Decree Absolute or an original copy of the death certificate must be produced before the marriage can take place.

5: Prior to the marriage ceremony, both parties will be required to sign a Declaration stating that you believe there is no legal impediment to the marriage between yourself and your partner.
